ARTHUR I. POBER, ED.D.

 

 

Dr. Arthur I. Pober is the President and Founder of MINDBRIGHT.

 

Among his accomplishments, Dr. Pober is an acknowledged authority in international self-regulation and children's media.

 

In addition to his work for MINDBRIGHT, Dr. Pober serves as a Senior Research Fellow for the Annenberg's Center for the Digital Future based in the University of Southern California.

As the creator of the videogame industry's self regulatory system along with devising its rating system, Dr. Pober has been highly praised by government officials such as Senator Joe Lieberman for his efforts.

As a result he has been given the honorary title of President Emeritus of the Entertainment Software Rating Board (ESRB)  for his outstanding contributions to the interactive software industry in developing the leading system for videogames and software in the U.S.

 

Besides a distinguished background in academia and consumer privacy areas, Dr. Pober has delivered papers, testified, and lectured extensively on regulatory issues at all levels of government domestically and internationally.

Dr. Pober has served as the headmaster of the Hunter College Laboratory School- the oldest school for gifted youngsters in the world.

Prior to his role at Hunter, Dr. Pober was recognized as a leader in the areas of gifted and talented education.

 

As an advanced trainer for the Structure of the Intellect model for intelligence training- Dr. Pober was responsible for creating innovative programs for youngsters in areas as diverse as Trinidad and Tobago to offering assistance in regulatory matters and children's issues in Bratislava and Croatia.

 

In the U.S., Dr. Pober was responsible for helping to create a specialized screening instrument for potential health and learning problems for new entrants into the N.Y.C. school system. He is also the creator of specialized programs for gifted and talented youngsters for over 25,000 school children in N.Y.C.

 

With a doctorate in Educational Psychology and Organizational Development and two masters’ degrees, Dr. Pober has lectured throughout the world on topics ranging from education, the media, and the role of self-regulation to parenting techniques, early childhood education as well as counseling techniques for families and children.

 

Dr. Pober serves as the U.S. representative to the European Institute for the Media and the European Advertising Standards Alliance.

 

Besides active participation in private and governmental meetings on ratings and privacy matters, Dr. Pober acts as consultant to various media outlets and serves on the advisory boards of several academic and non-profit institutions. 

 

He recently completed the Sterling Classic Starts Series for youngsters and their parents and serves as the Chief Educational Consultant to Baby First TV- the first channel developed exclusively for babies.
